Ghostbusters – ECTO 1

ECTO-1
is the vehicle name as well as the number plate used in Ivan Reitman’s 1984 supernatural comedy. The film starred powerhouses like Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray as a group of paranormal investigators and fighters.

The ECTO-1, also known as the Ectomobile, was a white 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Sentinel in a limo style with red trim. The name and plate reference ectoplasm – the residue left by the spirits, also known as ghost slime.

In the film, it was bought by Ray Stantz, Aykroyd’s character for $4,800 thanks to its long list of required repairs: “it needs suspension work and shocks, brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear end… maybe new rings, also mufflers, a little wiring…”.
